Armoured Fighting Vehicles:1) Validation of FRES technical requirements through generation of concept vehicles and comparing these with current developments to understand technical tensions/risks and cost, schedule drivers. Task supported by a number of Technology Demonstrator Programmes;2) Management of fleet down-select trades and segment trades;3) Engineering lead responsible for the technical section of the FRES Utility Vehicle (UV) Invitation to Tender (ITT) and SoW on industry (contract for over 3000 Armoured fighting vehicles to support various roles, including protected mobility, ambulances, unit aid posts, command posts and recovery vehicles)

MoD ranges: Engineering manager - Responsible for the technical aspects of a number of programmes ranging from Tarsier Foreign Object Detection Radar through to achieving clearance of the Hebrides Range.Armoured Fighting Vehicles: Responsible for the contents of the Systems Engineering element of the QinetiQ FRES Bid

Naval programmes: Type 45 Destroyer1) Negotiating the transverse requirements and associated acceptance criteria with MoD. Transverse subjects are those engineering disciplines that are ship wide, namely: Safety, Vulnerability, Signatures, Human Factors, Security, Stability, EME (Electromagnetic Engineering), General Arrangement, Alignment, ILS (though Life Costs, Availability, Reliability, Maintenance, Training, Support), Environment, Materials, Production Engineering. 2) Coherence of the technical interfaces (both physical and functional) between the Combat System, Power and Propulsion System, Platform Management System and Ship Systems (Including HV/LV distribution systems, HVAC, chilled water, sea water etc) and assuring technical alignment of the design;3) General troubleshooting of problems spanning more than one work stream.4) Resolution of ship layout and production issues

Airbus A340-5/600 Extension/Retraction Systems1) Management of the landing gear extension/retraction system design team (14 engineers).2) Technically responsible for the design of the complete system, and the delivery of the equipments that it comprised and their successful integration into the aircraft.3) Responsible for the technical content of the 22 equipment specifications and the delivery of fully qualified equipment to that specification4) Technical approval of all ground development tests5) Technical approval of all production line tests of the landing gear system at aircraft level.

European Polar Platform (PPF/ENVISAT-1)1) Compliance to the requirements; co-ordination of spacecraft design; systems analyses (i.e. attitude and orbit control, micro-vibrations, alignment); support to other disciplines and to the assembly, integration and test activities; general problem solving and fire-fighting.2) To agree with the instrument suppliers and the European Space Agency the technical interface between the PPF spacecraft and the scientific instruments (payload). Responsibilities included representing Matra Marconi Space at instrument design reviews, interface meetings to ensure instrument compliance with spacecraft requirements (much international travel), accepting the instrument for Matra Marconi Space at instrument delivery review boards, technical support during instrument testing at spacecraft level
