I studied Biology at Wageningen University and obtained my master's degree in Ecology en Biodiversity in 2008. I received my PhD from ETH Zurich in 2012 on the cycles and balances of nitrogen and phosphorus in African savanna. I have worked as a postdoc in Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands. My research focused on the effects of herbivory by large mammals and eutrophication on soil and plant processes in grasslands and savannas, with a focus on ecological stoichiometry. I am interested in applying my passion and experience in ecological research into more practical solutions for nature conservation and sustainable land use. From 2021 to 2023 I worked as an ecological researcher within the Vegetation, Forest and Landscape Ecology team at Wageningen Environmental Research. There I worked on projects related to the restoration of nature areas that are suffering from increased nitrogen deposition. Since 2023, I work as a researcher at B-WARE on applied ecological and biogeochemical research into nature restoration in dry sandy ecosystems, such as heathlands and forests.I have several years of project management experience (in the field, greenhouse and laboratory) and have strong organization and time management skills. I am a social person with excellent verbal and written communication skills. I am interested in communicating scientific content visually in the form of graphics and illustrations.
