As a policy advisor internationalisation, I take the lead on the policy theme of internationalisation within HAN. I contribute to the development of the institution’s strategic policy, particularly in relation to internationalisation. This includes developing policy in close collaboration with the other internationalisation policy officers and HAN management. I take part in HAN-wide consultations on internationalisation. I follow relevant developments related to the internationalisation of higher education and research and advise management and the Executive Board. I play a connecting role, both internally with the various HAN units involved in implementing the strategic agenda on internationalisation, and externally with major stakeholders, such as partner universities. The current themes at HAN are the internationalisation of the curriculum, staff and student mobility, education in languages other than Dutch, the formation of international strategic partnerships and the promotion of cultural diversity in the workplace at HAN.

Work at International Relations Office (IRO) within the Faculty of Business and Management. Goal is to support internationalisation of the curriculum of study programmes to prepare students for an (international) career in an increasing globalising world. Responsible for the acquisition of international projects, identifying interesting leads, liaise with partner universities, writing proposals, designing courses, coordinating projects and (financial) reporting to donor.Other tasks involve;- The organisation and coordination of the Summer Course: 'Doing Business in Europe'- Composing quarterly management report on Internationalisation- Quality control of Study Abroad, conversion of results to HAN credits- Process-coordinator of incoming exchange students- Assist in Study Abroad selection procedure

Work at International Relations Office within the Faculty of Business and Management. Assist and coordinate the process of mobility programmes between educational institutions. Target group are business students and lecturers. Facilitate the arrival of nearly 200 exchange students from abroad per year, and send around 270 students from the Netherlands abroad to over 100 partner universities throughout the world.

South Sudan, the newest country in the world, has some of the worst educational indicators, with education for girls being particularly poor. Only one girl in ten completes primary education and girls comprise just one-third of the secondary school population. The Girls’ Education in South Sudan Phase 2 (GESS 2) Programme aims to contribute to removing these barriers and enable a transformative societal change through education. The impact of the Programme will be to continue to transform the life chances of a generation of South Sudanese children (particularly but not exclusively girls) through education, while stabilizing priority areas of the education sector and concurrently seeking to deliver improved quality education. In my role as a Short -Term M&E Assistant, I was responsible to the Team Leader, Senior Management Team and Communications Manager to support among others with monthly report(s), data analysis and the design of a reporting template. My tasks included: contributrion to the preparation and documentation on monthly progress reports for the clients and donor. Assisting with the development and design of a M&E reporting form, a. that met the new requirements of the donor, b. that took into account the different (and new) parameters defined the project and c. tested the reporting templates and formats at various primary schools in Juba. IDesign of a master tracker for GESS 2 tools with categories for improved analysis.

Worked as a monitoring and Evaluation officer at Dabane Trust, a Zimbabwean based NGO that works in the field of small scale water supply for rural communities and for women groups in particular. Set up a monitoring and evaluation system with employees and field monitors and designed an Access database to capture all data. During this short term assignment I travelled extensively to the rural areas in order to discuss issues with the target group and other stakeholders.

At Euroconsult Mott MacDonald, I was responsible, among other for the coordination of the acquisition process, development of new marketing tools, chair product group meetings, preparation of technical and financial proposals (in the sphere of gender, capacity building, agriculture and land and water) and back-office assistance to the technical staff in the field. I contributed to a large number of EU, WB, ADB and bilateral project proposals; set up partnerships for upcoming new projects and liaised with donor representatives. In addition, involved in financial go-no go decisions and fee negotiations with independent experts / consultants. The position gave me the opportunity to get a comprehensive picture of all aspects of a consultancy firm.

On 22 April 2006, Tthe results were presented at the ‘Afrikadag’ organised by the Evert Vermeer Stichting in The Hague The day was organised by the Evert Vermeer stichting, an academic organisation liaised to the left winged political labour party on 22 April in the Netherlands. In addition, produced an article ‘Angola, made in China’ about the role of China in Africa and the consequences for the African continent. The article was published in the magazine ‘Values’ for ABN Amro Bank clients.

Research assignment for Radboud University, Nijmegen. Evaluative Research on Female Headed Households and their Food Security in urban areas Production of a master product ‘Food security in Urban Ethiopia, A case study among female headed returnee households in South Wollo, Ethiopia’ Evaluative Research carried out in Ethiopia on Female Headed Households and their Food Security in urban areas. Close cooperation with international and local organisations, companies and social workers in the field. Interviewed returnees, the host community, representatives of NGOs and the government on food security and gender issues. Evaluated the performance and role of ZOA Refugee Care for the returnees in the ‘South Wollo Project’.
