We hear about the urgency for green and sustainable solution almost on a daily basis. Luckily, people are already working on these solutions. Relevant research and the power of innovation will help us to achieve our green goals. Everyone of those stories is valuable. Especially when there are shared. Including your story. I'd love to help you share yours; the green stories of today.

The North Sea farm Foundation (a branch organization) works on strengthening and accelerating the Dutch seaweed sector. Seaweed is one of the most sustainable crops to grow and has various sustainable applications, such as food, animal feed, biostimulants and even bioplastic. As such, it can be an important part of climate change solutions. Therefore, it is crucial to connect all stakeholders involved - from nature organizations to wind farm owners - and work together.At the Foundation I engaged in various communication activities to support the sector. This included: sharing knowledge of (EU) projects and research programs within and outside the sector, involving members of the North Sea farm community through online and offline activities, strengthening the Foundation's visibility and profile in the Netherlands and Europe by means of a new brand strategy, followed by copy writing & content development.

Food Cabinet is the agency that works on more sustainable, fair and healthy food systems. By developing and organizing public campaigns, Food Cabinet aims to mobilize large groups of people. With an amazing team of thinkers, designers, strategists and change makers, this agency puts the major food challenges that we face today, on the agenda. The main activities are public campaigns (both online and offline), organizing meet-ups and workshops and connecting the food network. My main activities included coordinating all communicatie activities within campaigns and or events, by working together with graphic designers, video producers, event managers, etc. My tasks were, amongst others: setting up a communicatie strategy, contribute to content development, content management, editing and writing news articles or publications, setting up marketing strategies together with advertisers, monitoring and optimizing the results, production of photo and video material.

Platform Beta Techniek (PBT) aims to enhance good education in the field of technology and ICT. With differente programs that focus on collaboration between education, companies and government, PBT aims to add to the flexibility of the Dutch education system and as such contribute to the Dutch economy with well educated students. One of these programs is called 'Katapult'. It is a fundamental movement of renewing education. By promoting intensive collaboration between companies, government and vocational education institutes, the program aims to accelerate innovation and knowledge in the curriculum. Here, I was responsible for all communication regarding and within the movement. In the beginning of the movement, my tasks included setting up a brand strategy for the entire network, public affairs tasks, brand management. Later on, my tasks also included developing content, editing and writing articles, setting up social media channels, community management, etc.

NorthernLight is a design company that designs experiences. One of their core activities is to develop cultural and science experiences, such as exhibtions for science centres, museums and other organizations. These experiences are informal learning arenas, aimed to empower visitors to better understand the world around them. My main tasks at Northernlight were to gather, structure and develop (scientific) content of exhibitions by a.o.t. performing background research, create storylines, write exhibit descriptions, support the design team, structure content and manage client relations.

Tijdens mijn stage ondersteunde ik de sr. content manager in de inhoudsontwikkeling van verschillende projecten. Hierbij voerde ik taken uit die vergelijkbaar zijn aan de taken hierboven. Na een korte interruptie (voor mijn thesis in Australie) kwam ik bij Northenlight terug om te werken als content manager.

The research for my master thesis included an analytical overview of current trends and developments in both Science Education and Science Communication and how these trends overlap and/or differ. This thesis was carried out at the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS) at the Australian National University. CPAS is extensively involved in research and outreach programs of science in society.

This research internship entailed investigating underlying reasons of commitment towards the veterinary and dental heritage collections of the Universiteitsmuseum, by means of a target group analysis. The purpose of this study was to gain insight in the motivation of the target group regarding the heritage collections.

At Studiekring, I tutored (mainly) high school students in the beta-courses, such as biology, chemistry and mathemetics. These students sometimes needed some extra guidance in the course theory or some more practical help while doing their homework. One of the most fulfilling jobs I had.
