This three-year nationwide seminal research study necessitated exploring the literature of more than 300 books and peer-reviewed articles from safety management, corporate culture, and organizational behavior. At the time, there was no evidence that similar research had been conducted. Since 1994, the basic findings from this research have been replicated by other research studies, most notably in business, organizational psychology, and human resources. Dan Petersen and I shared similar backgrounds: safety and organizational behavior. My research expanded and quantified his insightful work.In my more than 30 years in occupational safety and health, I've been employed as a safety manager, industrial hygienist, and occupational health nurse, and now as a professional consultant.
