The ARISE Intervention and Continuum of Care invites the addicted or troubled individual to participate in the Intervention - NO secrets, surprises or ambush. Your loved one's support system motivates him or her into treatment and recovery.Our mission is to reach out to the 90% of troubled individuals who never receive care. ARISE treats everyone with respect, integrity, love, and compassion. Our goal is individual and family recovery and healing. We achieve 83% treatment engagement and 61 sober at 1 year with another 10% improved.Our national and international network provides service to those wanting to help their loved ones take better care of their health, whether mental illness, addiction, chronic physical illness, or combinations of these. Our training program provides an intensive educational workshop followed by supervision to become a Certified ARISE Interventionist.

The cornerstone of every society is the family. With the support of its members, the International Family Therapy Association (IFTA) provides international conferences to promote, strengthen and improve the quality of family therapy, the quality of relationships within families and to promote well-being and peace within our world.IFTA, working in a collaborative spirit with other professionals and organizations around the world who share its mission, also promotes continuing education for family therapy professaionals in the development of international quality standards for marriage and family therapists in order that they may better assist families in the communities in which they serve.

Taught several courses and workshops on Trauma and Community Resilience, working with members of refugee and traumatized communities as real life examples for learning (e.g., Lower Manhattan after 9/11; Liberians on Staten Island and mainland Liberia; Kosovars in Kosova during and after the war and immigrants and refugees in the US).

Took protocols and methods developed during my academic research and teaching career out into the real world for replication studies and where they could be applied
