I worked with the PDC Standing Committee to plan for professional development events sponsored by TESOL, both face-to-face and online.

Work with a committee to develop and provide professional learning opportunities, resources, academies, pre- and post-conference institutes, etc. for English as a Second Language teachers from Pre-K-university programs. This is the second of a three-year term from Incoming Chair through Past Chair. Beginning the position of Past Chair in April, 2011.

Teach graduate courses online in the areas of ESL/bilingual methodology and teaching English language learners in the content areas. Additionally, conduct onsite trainings to train K-12 regular education (mainstream) teachers in sheltered instruction techniques.

Facilitate chapter coordinators meeting the needs of members in their individual chapter regions of CATESOL.

Teach graduate TESOL courses as part of Project EXCELL, one of the OELA teacher training grant partnerships between UMKC and North Kansas City Schools, Kansas City, MO. Graduate courses are blended courses--face-to-face and online.

Work with the Chair and the Council to help various TESOL Interest Sections plan their academic and intersection sessions at the annual conference. Participate in the Interest Section Council Annual Meeting, discussing Interest Section concerns and propositions put before the IS Council.

As President I represented the organization at conferences, at the NJ Department of Education, State Board meetings to give testimony on code and law related to English language learners and bilingual students, as well as promoted the health of the organization. It was important to make sure that the organization provided its members with the best possible professional development. It was equally important to make sure the organization had a voice that was heard both within the state and nationally.
