My focus is on helping clients determine how to best allocate resources to address increasingly complex social problems. ✔ Aided in securing funding support for NurseLearn, the only dedicated education and support platform for Community-Based Care (CBC) licensed nurses and professionals working in assisted living, memory care, adult foster care, in-home care, and residential care settings. ✔ Developed staff recruitment strategies for the launch of Oregon Care Careers, a free career support service inspiring the best of Oregon’s workforce to start and grow a career in long-term care. Oregon Care Careers is a program of Oregon Care Partners.✔ Worked with Pacific University, Willamette Dental Group, AllCare Health, Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center, and the Oregon Oral Health Coalition on the development of a model to increase access to dental care. This project focused on achieving health equity, eliminating disparities, increasing the diversity of the dental workforce, demonstrating the effectiveness of dental therapy, and improving the health of all Oregonians. ✔ Designed and launched the first competitive grant program of the Rita and Alex Hillman Foundation. Innovations in Care grant funds bold, creative approaches that challenge conventional strategies, improve health outcomes, lower costs, and enhance patient and family caregiver experience. Results included funding for the Michigan State University College of Nursing to support expansion of MiCAPABLE (a unique program providing team-based home care and home repair services to help older adults stay in their homes).

Additionally, IFP provides related services such as grants readiness assessments, capital campaigns, and a newly launched community benefit innovation program. IFP’s team of 20+ writers, editors, and policy consultants assists clients all over the country to secure hundreds of millions in grant funding from numerous federal agencies

I was responsible for the development and implementation of strategic plans to raise funds for the Oregon Nurses Foundation, a 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to improving the nursing profession by a variety of methods, including supporting educational programs; encouraging recruitment, education and retention of qualified persons into the nursing profession; disseminating information on nursing and related subjects; and supporting relevant research and health-related community service programs.

I was selected to design and lead a $35M collaborative partnership initiative between the Northwest Health Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to create a stable nursing workforce for the 21st Century. PIN supported 60+ projects in 37 states and the Pacific Territories, investing and leveraging $30M+ in funding, and establishing relationships with 500+ community partners. ✔ Directed all aspects of the partnership including a $1M annual operating budget, a staff and team of consultants, and a large volume of grant proposals and reports for funding partners.I also directed the efforts of PIN's Advisory Committee.✔ Helped transform non-healthcare stakeholders into collaborative, connected stakeholders with a commitment to health systems change.

I was first hired to direct all grant programs for a start-up health conversion foundation, issuing $3.5M annually across Oregon. I then created and advanced into the role of Director of Strategic Initiatives to move the Foundation’s extensive scientific research program into a strategic portfolio. In 2005, I was tapped to build and lead a variety of health workforce development projects and programs, and concurrently led Partner’s Investing in Nursing’s Future (see above).✔ Spearheaded an initiative that resulted in the redesign of nursing education in Oregon. Built and led a five-year, $5M program that brought about a model that was later adopted by 20 states.✔ Created the foundation’s first focused research program that addressed the problems of chronic disease and supported community-based participatory action; the extensive program awarded the foundation’s largest research grant to date.
