I’m an impression-management consultant, writer, teacher, and I deliver keynote address on the subjects of trust, first impressions and making dynamic presentations. Since January of 2003, my primary “day-job,” has been working with lawyers developing creative and innovative trial strategies and working with clients to prepare them to testify in court and/or depositions.But the most significant thing I do, is teach people how to secure trust from strangers.You see, back in the mid-1980s when I was a character actor in Los Angeles, I solved mankind’s biggest conundrum regarding relationships, by figuring out exactly how and why trust is granted or denied when strangers see each other for the first time. So since 2003, I’ve been teaching people in every manageable profession a precise set of communication skills that will enable them to secure trust – in fractions of a second – in virtually any situation.I teach those skills in person (one-on-one), in group settings, in keynote addresses and in our foundational online courses, Trust: The Reason First Impressions Matter (FirstImpressionsHQ.com), and Trust: The Reason Witness Prep Matters (JurisPerfect.com). My earliest professional career was as a social scientist, a gerontological researcher. It’s a long story how I left the field of science for show business, but what I did not leave behind, were my research skills. I made my discoveries regarding trust, as a result of years of empirical qualitative research. But back in the 80’s, there was no empirical quantitative research to bolster my discoveries. However, beginning in the late 1990s, thanks to the widespread use of fMRIs (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging machines), empirical quantitative research within the field of Social Cognitive Neuroscience, has produced copious data and indisputable scientific evidence of the validity, importance – and thus the prescience of my discoveries.
