I am the Director of Science & Technology Programs, primarily guiding the Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) portfolio ranging from basic and applied research to transition technology as well as professional development and opportunities, for Platform Integrity at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Div. I also assist both the Director of Research guiding a basic research portfolio and Director of Innovation facilitating a culture of innovation with Human Centered Design practices. I work closely with the Disruptive Technologies Laboratory in exploration of non-traditional technology via assembly of ad-hoc interdisciplinary teams exploring potential naval relevance.

As the Science & Technology (S&T) coordinator for the Structures and Composites Division, my primary focus is to guide the Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) portfolio ranging from basic and applied research to transition technology as well as professional development and opportunities. The guiding principles are for a balanced and comprehensive alignment with the following: Navy S&T needs / priorities, Engaging key organizational needs, Explore/Exploit emerging technologies, and Expanding our S&T network.My other Collateral duties include: •Innovation Advisor Council member; Facilitating a culture of innovation throughout NSWCCD via evaluating, advising, and guiding Technical Director Innovation Challenge (TDIC) proposal winners and arranging Human Centered Design (HCD) training.•Modern Knowledge Transfer Vector Champion; Fostering effective, ongoing knowledge development and transfer between individuals and between groups with a general goal to nurture an open and collaborative culture where knowledge flows from person to person through the conversion of tacit to explicit using modern exchange processes.•Science and Technology Council member; Advise, evaluate, and promote continued effective S&T within the NSWCCD community. •Recruiting/Hiring Manager; Evaluating engineering recruits for full time post degree positions as well as interns via various programs; SEAP, NREIP, SMART.•Subject Matter Expert for Flight Deck Heating; Guiding load definition, structural assessments and Verification and Validation (V&V) testing with V-22, F-35B, and AV8B, as well as developing mitigation solutions both structural and operational, in addition to assisting ONR and DARPA in assessing Thermal Management Systems •Subject Matter Expert for Submarine Structures Arctic Operations; Determination of loading definitions for the all applicable submarine structures and operational limitations for various classes of submarines.

Development of Structural Criteria for US Naval vehicles with special emphasis on new, eclectic loads due to unique operations. Assessment of Naval structures to maintain acceptability through a determined lifetime. Subject matter expert support for the structural Technical Authorities within the Naval Sea Systems Command.
