My mother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 53. There was very little information about the disease available at that time, and as my mother's condition worsened, I pledged to devote my career to finding ways to improve the level of care for older adults and their families.Nearly 20 years working with non-profit organizations dedicated to serving older populations has enabled me to gain hands-on experience in organizational aspects, such as efficient non-profit management, strategic planning, the increase of public awareness through community outreach and education programs, the recruitment, training and retention of volunteers, working directly with and advising families impacted by aging and ill loved ones, supporting and mentoring caregivers, organizational fundraising, event planning, legislative advocacy, and grant writing.
