Sophia Grant, MD, and Judy Grant, LMFT, are sisters. Both were born in Jamaica but spent most of their lives in Southern California. Their careers took different paths; however, both found fulfilment in helping others. Sophia is the medical director of both a child abuse clinic and a sexual assault team. Judy is a mental health therapist and the director of diversity, equity, and inclusion at a nonprofit organization. Join them as they explore issues related to sisterhood, motherhood, parenthood, womanhood, and all aspects of middle aged living. No matter the topic, they can relate. • Provide therapeutic counseling to families, couples and individuals in a private practice environment.• Conduct intake session for clients.• Creation of a treatment plan and safety & Coping Plans to ensure client’s safety and therapeutic objectives.• Provide updates to social workers, attorneys, evaluators, court personnel, etc. as needed.• Maintain client records, coordinate client appointments, maintain fee logs and documentation.

• Prepare curriculum and lectures for Child Development and Family Services course.• Assigned course related papers, projects, etc. • Reviewed papers and projects in order to assigned grades associated with assigned coursework.• Planned course syllabus to inform students of material assignments and course requirements,• Meet with students regarding their academic goals and how to meet them.

• Responsible for the supervision of the FP Staff.• Provides assessment of treatment planning and direct in home services to FP clients. • Facilitates multidisciplinary case planning committee meeting with families, in home outreach counselors and CSWs.• Coordinates the requests and referrals of new cases through DCFS.• Participates in monthly DCFS and DMH required meetings, such as Task Force, Community Advisory Committee and Roundtable sessions.• Responsible for reviewing and approving weekly and monthly client notes.• Completes monthly fiscal reconciliation for both DCFS and the PL fiscal department.

• Completion of all intake documentation for STRTP Residential Clients and SUD clients as required by DMH and Joint Commission.• Assessment of client’s needs and provides linkages to a variety of services.• Conducts case consultations with staff, therapists and psychiatrists to ensure continuity of care.• Creation of treatment plan and Safety & Coping Plan.• Responsible for meeting monthly services time of 65%.

• Provide mental health services including individual group, collateral & family sessions on site, in the field or in the home.• Assessment of client’s needs and provides linkage to a variety of resources.• Attends client IEP and SSPT meetings as needed.• Documentation of all client care as required by Penny Lane and DMH guidelines.• Creation of treatment plan and continuous monitoring of client objectives.• Utilization of Evidenced Based Practices in therapy sessions.• Responsible for meeting monthly service time of 65% billable time.• Attend weekly, monthly and quarterly group supervisions.

The Matrix mission is to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by alcohol and other drug use by delivering the most effective, outpatient treatment methods and to promote a greater understanding of addiction disorders through education, training and research. As a counselor I facilitate Early Recovery and Relapse Prevention groups. In addition, I provide one on one and conjoint counseling and serve as an advocate for the client when managing insurance and treatment goals.
