Clinical Futures | Pediatric Infectious Disease Epidemiology & Antimicrobial Stewardship (IDEAS)-Assisted with the studies: Optimizing Vancomycin Therapy in Children II (Opt Vanc), Assessment of MODS and Personalized Exposures of antibiotics (AMPLE), Pediatric Sepsis induced MODS: Relationship of Immune-phenotypes and antibiotic Exposures (PRESCRIBE), Prone and Oscillation Pediatric Clinical Trial (PROSpect Biorepository). -Followed and executed study procedures involving enrollment, sample collection, transport, documentation, and processing of blood and urine samples within the setting of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), laboratory, and office.-Assessed capacity of parents/patients to consent/assent.-Obtained and documented consent, assent, and verbal consent from children and their legal guardian/parent, occasionally with the use of language interpreters.-Adhered to various rules and procedures from the IRB, HIPPA, hospital policies, safety policies, etc.-Screened for patient eligibility involving inclusion/exclusion criteria consisting of Multi Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS) criteria, antibiotic course, DNR orders, legal guardianship, spoken language, etc.-Reviewed patient medical charts via EPIC.-Coordinated with medical staff such as attendings, nurses, and testing laboratory personnel regarding patient study participation/procedures.-Worked in a high-stress environment (PICU) with the occurrence of medical codes/emergencies, death, discontinuation of life support, trauma cases, etc.-Exposure to a wide demographic of patients and families varying in race, religion, ethnicity, spoken language, socio-economic status, urban/suburban residency, social histories, education level, medical/neurologic conditions, etc.-Kept up with sensitive situational awareness factors regarding participants’ medical, social, and environmental circumstances and developmental capacity to ensure patient specific/appropriate interaction.
