My professional career has been spent working with young adults both on the college campus and in businesses. My expertise in young adult development and emerging adulthood is particularly relevant now as entry-level talent are not meeting the expectations of employer's. I have applied this expertise as a consultant and speaker in my own company Emerging Advantage as well as in my roles in higher education. Currently, I am directing an important effort in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota to provide 14,000 students with an understanding how their liberal arts education prepares them for future success. My background which includes student development as well as entry-level talent experience uniquely positions me to shape a critical conversation about how graduates with a liberal arts background are essential to meeting the current workforce needs in the state of Minnesota and in the nation.Specialties: Emerging Adulthood, Young Adult Development, Professional Identity Development of 18-28 year olds, Entry-Level Talent Management Best Practices, Supervision, Recruitment and Retention of Entry-Level Talent, Gen Y, Entry-Level Training and Organizational Development, Liberal Arts Education, Career Readiness, Competency Development

Vice President, Gen Y Expert, Millennial Expert Consultant, Trainer, Keynote SpeakerEmerging Advantage Apr 2009 - Apr 2018"Close the gap between the entry-level employees you have and the ones you want."Emerging Advantage helps organizations gain a competitve advantage by providing services to engage and accelerate the development of entry-level employees impacting retention, performance and promotability. The Challenge: Gen Y behavior frustrating many employers has been misdiagnosed as a generational issue. Employers expect entry-level employees to perform yet, they have difficulty navigating the daily rigors of professional entry-level work. The majority of 18-30 year olds are in the new life stage of development called emerging adulthood. Far-reaching consequences compromise the future health of all organizations if Gen Y (75 million) is not ready to replace the Boomer Generation (80 million) in the next decade. The Solution: The Pillars™: foundational model for innovative entry-level talent development. Tri-Ed Training™: customized training for leaders, managers, and entry-level employees. Entry-Level Practices Analysis™: measurement of organizational and management practices impacting entry-level talent. The Accelerator™: program developing foundational competencies through specific learning experiences as well as enhancing the competency of “developing others” in managers. The Outcome: A deep entry-level talent pool ready for significant responsibility, management, and leadership.
