I’m a software engineer that enjoys the intersection of the virtual world and the “real” world… the user interface and the hardware interface. I enjoy writing software that powers devices to make life better for the user in some manner – whether it’s collecting data, or creating a travel journal. Throughout my career I’ve been involved with software that either runs embedded in a device or resides elsewhere to provide a user-interface for control and data processing. Of course the most exciting new development in this arena is the smart phone, which adds several new dimensions to the user-device-cloud interaction.Most often the “device” involved in the systems I’ve developed has been one or more cameras, since I’ve spent many years involved in the imaging industry. But I’ve also worked with medical devices, scientific instrumentation, and business systems. I lead the software arm of our new company, Auburn Tech Group, with a particular focus on mobile and embedded platforms.
