As a strategy and finance executive, I have a unique combination of skills developed through years of managing the highly structured financial side of businesses while concurrently contributing to sales, customer success, and product development organizations’ results. In the last decade, I’ve worked as a business unit financial and strategy leader for two public technology companies with revenues up to $50B, and as the CSO and CFO for three small, private companies with revenues of nearly $30M each. They all had one thing in common - the need to develop and operationalize a formal strategic plan. Working as a partner to CEOs, CFOs, and CDOs, I’ve helped craft and execute forward-looking strategies that have turned companies around, opened new lines of business, and dramatically increased bookings and ARR. I’ve also played a key role in obtaining financing and funding, identifying and pursuing M&A opportunities, and integrating acquired organizations at several companies. WHY CORPORATE STRATEGY “THE FOCUS”?I trained as a finance person, so I understand the numbers and financial outcomes, but those numbers are determined by the decisions people make before the first dollar is spent. I want to be part of the team that is driving outcomes and making decisions about where a company is going and how it’s going to get there. A lot of my focus on corporate strategy comes from my earliest days in the United States. I was born in Taiwan and came to Silicon Valley when I was 17 to live the American dream. I immersed myself in tales of business success and vowed to learn everything there was to know about building a business in my new country. ME IN A NUTSHELL I’m a “cup half full” kind of person so I expect to succeed when I try something new. I’m also stubborn, so when my risk-averse relatives told me that I couldn’t make it in business because I didn’t speak English well enough, I made it my mission in life to prove them wrong. Along the way, my determination attracted amazing sponsors and mentors who went out of their way to groom me and cheer on every success. As a result, I not only succeeded beyond my wildest dreams, I’ve also had the pleasure of mentoring dozens of junior colleagues and hundreds of new grads across organizations nationwide.
