It has been my privilege to work for some of Nashville’s best employers. Each career move has given me unique opportunities to expand and hone my skills. The creative field developed my right-brain ability to think on my feet and to look beyond the obvious. My management roles built my analytical problem-solving skills. I am a proud alumna of Father Ryan High School, an iconic Nashville institution. I was Board chairman 2013-17--the first woman to serve in the role--of this formerly all-boys school. FRHS has just kicked off its 100th anniversary celebration, commemorating the start of school Sept. 14, 1924. I also served on the Board of Alive Hospice prior to joining its staff.My communications and management skills were put to the test when I served as conservator for my terminally ill sister in 2001. I learned much about health care, case management, reimbursements, and caregiving. Ten years later I immersed myself in the field as a UT College of Social Work grad student, as well as through hands-on experience with older adults in home care settings through FiftyForward and LifeLinks, and volunteer work in geriatrics and palliative care at Vanderbilt Hospital.
