I am the founding principal of Nitsch Engineering... and I retired on April 1, 2020. My work over the past 45 years in civil engineering has focused on the design and management of site development and infrastructure-related projects, with an emphasis on sustainable design. My most recent focus had been on client relationships and business development for our firm. Nitsch Engineering specializes in site design and permitting for real estate development projects and infrastructure projects; many projects are LEED-registered or certified. Our firm also provides civil, structural, and transportation engineering, land surveying, planning, green infrastructure, and GIS services.I have been a Trustee of the Boston Architectural College (www.the-bac.edu) since 2016, and became board Chair in July 2021. The BAC is my late husband's alma mater.I was the 2014 national President of CREW Network (Commercial Real Estate Women), and have been active in the local chapter, CREW Boston (formerly NEWIRE), for over 25 years. I have also served as President of the American Council of Engineering Companies/Massachusetts, the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section/ASCE, and the Society of Women Engineers/Boston Section (SWE). A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), I have been a Registered Professional Engineer in 27 states. I'm also a LEED Accredited Professional. I received an Honorary Doctor of Science Degree from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and spoke at their commencement in 2010. In 2015, I received an Honorary Doctor of Engineering Degree from WPI. In 1989, I was elected the first alumna member to WPI's Board of Trustees and served as Chair of the Facilities Committee for 16 years. I became an emerita trustee in 2012. I served on the board of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce for 16 years and co-chaired its Real Estate Development Committee for 15 years. I am also on the Board of Advisors of Eastern Bank, and a Fellow of ACEC, ASCE, SWE and SMPS. I was the co-chair of the Host Committee for GreenBuild 2017, the international convention of the U.S. Green Building Council, which was held in Boston in November 2017. I was thrilled to be named an Honorary Member of the Boston Society for Architecture in 2019 and an Honorary Member of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2020.
