Experienced arts and education professional with a demonstrated history of working in the nonprofit sector. Coordinator for Oakland University's Nonprofit Management Certificate Program. Skilled in Arts Administration, Programming, Grant Writing, Fine Art, Art Therapy, Working with Youth, Adolescents and Adults. Strong mental health services professional with a BFA, and MEd, art therapy specialization, from Wayne State University. Judy finds fulfillment helping others grow, empowering them to move through life's challenging transitions and obstacles. She began her career in the arts in the 1980s as a freelance and courtroom illustrator. In 1996, Judy co-founded The Art Experience, a community art and art therapy studio in Pontiac, Michigan, serving as the organization's Executive Director from 2012-2017, co-creating Pontiac's Art Fish Fun Festival, now in its tenth year. She is a fierce advocate for people with disabilities and youth labeled "at risk", and from 2016-2020 worked with youth in a crisis residential setting. Judy serves as an Arts Commissioner for the City of Pontiac, and from 2018-2022, co-produced Pontiac's Annual Arts Crawl. She received the Wayne State University Art Education and Art Therapy Department's Community Service Award in 2018. Her life's mission has been to use the arts to build community and improve people's lives. She recently began a new chapter, deepening her commitment to this mission and to the city of Pontiac, serving as a consultant and grant writer to nonprofit organizations in the Pontiac area.
