Since 1993, I have dedicated my career to B2B sales and marketing, primarily within the professional services sector, including Architecture, Engineering, Construction firms, Law firms, Financial services, SaaS start-ups, and Building Owners who create remarkable destinations. From 1993 to 2008, I held various in-house roles. My journey began with hands-on experience, from my first job managing the switchboard at an international Program Management/CM firm to VP of National Sales, and eventually Chief Marketing Officer of a global design/build practice. As CMO, I managed a $5M marketing budget and a team of 22, growing the company from $250M to over $700M in 5 years. During this tenure, I realized the need for specialized marketing resources in the AEC industry, which led me to found Smartegies in 2008.Smartegies, LLC (www.smartegies.com), is a marketing agency focused on helping companies grow their business, people, and communities. We work with building owners, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, construction lawyers, funding resources, equipment suppliers, commercial contractors, SaaS start-ups, and building product manufacturers. As Chief Marketing Officer, I secured multi-year partnerships with companies like The Coca-Cola Company and Wellstar Health Systems.Since 2016, I have been a part-time professor at Georgia Tech, teaching integrated marketing for the College of Design. In 2024, I authored the construction marketing curriculum for the School of Building Construction and will teach this course starting Fall 2024.
