I am one of the co-owners of Shepa Learning Company (shepa is the Tibetan word for awareness). We provide training to corporations, government, associations, students and women’s groups in the skills of networking, social intelligence, and communication. We focus on both bonding within the organization as well as learning the skills of bridging to the community. We help people to become better connectors, remove the anxiety around networking and conversation, and develop strategies to build supportive networks, and it’s all based on a philosophy of networking that’s been called “the world’s best definition” — Positive Networking®. The Women’s Leadership Circle® (WLC) is a special program of The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade created in 2007 to provide a forum for women members to become more engaged in the social, business and political communities in which The Board of Trade operates. The WLC's focus is on helping women advance in leadership through its Four Pillars: Conversations, Connections, Recognition, and Advocacy. The WLC sparks important conversations, helps women build their network, recognizes women through speaking engagements and the Wendy McDonald Awards and advocates for policies that benefit gender diversity in leadership.Direction for the WLC comes from its Advisory Committee comprised of approximately twenty-five female and male leaders from a variety of organizations (e.g. business, government, non-profit and educational).
