In charge of Technology and Innovation at SAP. This includes managing SAP’s overall platform and technology development. To this end, my team and I are driving the development of SAP Business Technology Platform bringing together application development, data management, analytics and planning, integration, and artificial intelligence capabilities into one unified environment optimized for SAP applications. In addition, I’m overseeing all innovation efforts related to our platform and new technologies.

Global responsibility for leading SAP’s innovation agenda. This includes scouting and exploring emerging technologies like blockchain or quantum computing and incubating those that will have significant business impact for SAP, its customers, and partners (e.g. machine learning). Moreover, I am in charge of building new business model and market driven innovations, boldly ideating on breakthrough ideas for SAP and quickly validating these in the market.Overall, my role spans from defining and executing SAP’s innovation strategy, to pioneering transformative innovations and developing novel go-to-market strategies for these innovations, to promoting an entrepreneurial culture across SAP. Additionally, I advise the SAP Executive Board on all innovation related topics.

In addition to my day-to-day responsibilities as Chief Innovation Officer, I serve as the Managing Director of SAP Labs Berlin. In that role, I drive SAP’s innovation footprint in the region of Greater Berlin by tighter collaboration with universities, public institutions, design communities, startups and other companies within the highly strategic region. Developing and sourcing talent from the region is also part of the charter.

Besides numerous teaching activities at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), I contributed to several research projects in the area of In-Memory Data Management. I finished my PhD related to new applications optimized for In-Memory Databases under the supervision of Professor Hasso Plattner. I was co-representative of Professor Plattner's research chair at the HPI for Software Systems Engineering, University of Potsdam, Germany. Before that, I spent significant time in China during my business informatics studies.
