My professional passions are value investments and sustainable investment principles. A third passion is Vietnam. In 2006, we launched VietNam Holding (VNH). My three passions merged. VNH is a Vietnam-centric value investor and signatory of the UN PRI. In 2009, the increasing environmental, social responsibility and corporate governance (ESG) pressures led us to fully incorporate ESG in our analytical investment process. VNH thus became the first UNPRI signatory in Vietnam (www.UNPRI.ORG). As of next year, all companies listed on the HoSE must publish the key ESG data. That will make our ESG tracking job a lot easier and will hopefully lead other leading funds fully incorporate the UNPRI ESG principles in their company analysis as well. We strongly believe that it was this dual Value and ESG focus that has led us be the best-performing VietNam funds over many years. In a country which understandably is typically focused on the short-term, a top management committed to ESG principles is a management with a long-term vision. Our VNH Foundation is supported by voluntary work of staff members, supports projects for disenfranchized children in South-East Asia. The organization is funded by private donations as well as by a 1/3 share of all Incentive Fees fees which the VNH Foundation obtains from the funds it manages. More than USD 3 million have accumulated from VNHAM and private donors. The foundation projects are shown on the website vnhfoundation.com In 2013, VNHAM became the advisor for the Lumen Vietnam Fund, a UCITS fund managed by CBR in Liechtenstein with a NAV of ~ USD 60 million.
