Principal Business Analyst (BA) delivering VBG’s change portfolio to support wider transformation of its technology infrastructure, as well as embed a new change delivery framework (CDF) that enables better governance for change projects.Key responsibilities draw upon my experience to date to work within the leadership team of the Business Change team, working with Senior Project Managers and Portfolio Leads, and provide line management as well as oversight to experienced Business Analysts.Key Achievements:- Build out requirements to decommission legacy, on-premises, infrastructure, and migrate to Microsoft Azure Cloud technology. This is anticipated to save the group circa £5million per year in run and support costs, as well as align to the group’s ‘Cloud First’ strategy.- Implement and embed a quality assurance process for the Business Analysis Practice, which enables BAs to produce better quality artefacts, consistently, as well as ensuring alignment to the CDF.- Developed the capabilities of the BA Practice by identifying skills gaps from both a soft skills and technical skills perspective, and working with a combination of internal and external stakeholders to provision learning opportunities to address those gaps.- Oversaw the delivery of 3 portfolios of projects, line managing and assignment managing upto 12 BAs within those portfolios. I ensured each piece of work is adequately resourced, the quality of the output is defined, maintained and delivered, and created forums to collaboration across portfolios to ensure dependencies and synergies are effectively managed.

Senior Business Analyst (BA) working on a diverse range of programmes/projects to deliver operational, regulatory and transformational change to the FCA. Key projects/programmes:- Payment Systems Regulator (PSR)A BA within the Business Design Team, working to introduce a new industry body which regulates the £75 trillion UK payments industry, The Payment Systems Regulator. This became fully operational in April 2015. Whilst the PSR is a subsidiary of the Financial Conduct Authority it is an independent regulator with its own statutory objectives.- Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR)Utilising Agile Sprint Methodology to deliver operational and regulatory change to transition from Approved Persons Regime to SMCR. This is central to the FCA’s statutory responsibilities under the Banking Reform Act (BRA) 2013 to promote transparency and accountability of senior management within financial services organisations.Secondment: Authorisations OfficerI undertook a secondment opportunity within the Wholesale Authorisations to broaden my understanding of financial services firms, authorisation processes, conduct rules. This involved directly interacting with firms and compliance consultants to assess requests for authorisation. I was also involved in the development of regulatory instruments and technical standards through engaging European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).- Transformational changeLead Business Analyst on a transformational change programme that implemented a range of improvements to the Authorisations Division of the FCA. Changes ranged from a revision of risk tolerance and assurance processes, to implementing a series of digital solutions. I also played a key role in the development of strategic initiatives to support the FCA’s ambition to transform the organisation to be a more data led regulator.

Leveraging experience of complaints processes and Business Banking customers, this role involved being part of a newly formed project team to implement a new complaints management system to address recent enforcement action taken by the FCA in relation to its handling of complaints.I was involved in the end-to-end implementation of this system, which required engagement with 3rd party vendors in terms of design, service and warranty and defect management, as well as internal business stakeholders to plan and provide training material and embed new ways of working.Other key responsibilities included writing and designing ‘As Is’ and ‘To Be’ process maps, preparing business requirements, delivering process flows, assisting in development activities and defining MI reporting to senior management.
