Kalajoen Kuitu provides gigabit internet connections to the people living in Kalajoki and of course companies and public sector too. The company is building an optical fiber network and offering services on top of that. It is owned by Kalajoen Lämpö and thus a part of the Kalajoki city group. I was in charge of starting and leading the company while also developing new business and services with a huge state funded investment project.

The core business is to provide sustainable and affordable warmth to private households, public buildings and businesses with maximal reliability. The company also offers expert services to the city group and works together with other organizations in a green energy ecosystem. During my years leading the company the business became clearly more profitable without touching the pricing. The usage of oil in producing district heating dropped to one third of what it was before. We also started a new subsidiary to offer high speed internet service (min 1 Gbps) in the Kalajoki area. The services include network administration, power transmission and distribution, metering, providing of metering data to electricity suppliers and technical support services. In addition to the Oulu city area to company provides power network connections in Kiiminki and Yli-Ii.

I started a new unit which developes and provides services related to smart transport infrastructure. Implementing, maintaining and developing traffic signal control and systems closely related to that was the core. I was also working with communications networks, different types of camera systems, traffic counts, information systems, traffic safety systems and parking guidance.
