Jules Estrin maintains a busy schedule adjudicating musical groups, giving master classes, lectures and clinics on band and jazz band pedagogy across Canada.He is currently the Music Director of the Toronto Jazz Academy Orchestra (www.torontojazzacademyorchestra.ca). The TJAO is a new jazz education initiative started in 2021 to support kids with an interest ensemble playing, improvisation and jazz theory.In 2019 Jules was named Jazz Camp Director at Interprovincial Music Camp (www.campimc.ca) and is responsible for hiring faculty and visiting artists, building enrolment and creating a dynamic daily schedule for campers.Since 2007 Jules has acted as Musical Director of the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band program. At the height of the program it included the JAZZ.FM91 Seminar Big Band and the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big BandIn addition to this role as Musical Director he auditioned, administrated and produced up to twenty concerts per a year including: Songs of Sinatra with Adam James, Long & McQuade series and shared concerts with school music programs across the Greater Toronto Area. The JAZZ.FM91 groups have performed with legendary jazz artists Randy Brecker, Bucky Pizzarelli, Lew Tabackin, Tom Scott, Wycliffe Gordon, Joey DeFranceso, PJ Perry and Guido Basso. In 2010 the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band opened for Al Jarreau at the Brantford International Jazz Festival. Jules also held the position of Jazz Music Director of the Kincardine Summer Music Festival which included hiring faculty, creating an engaging daily program for students and producing a nightly concert series featuring: Denzil Sinclair, Heather Bambrick, The Heavyweight Brass Band and saxophonist Ralph Bowen among others artists.A graduate of McGill University, PQ he completed his Master’s degree at the University of Toronto while directing the 7 o’clock jazz ensemble.
