Hello! Food is a necessity, and everyone deserves a hot delicious meal – that’s why we started our business to provide homeless individuals with food and lots of Love. My name is Jules Lyons Thomas and I’m a 16-year-old 10th grader living in East Palo Alto, California. My mother, Jennifer Lyons, and I are founders of Onyxx Village Connection, a non-profit organization that connects people of underserved communities with a wide range of local resources. Our main priority is delivering free hot delicious meals to the hungry in East Palo Alto and surrounding communities in a way that allows people to maintain their dignity. Through food donations from local businesses and organizations, we collect and prepare a diverse menu for our community. Within the last two years we have delivered approximately 200 weekly meals to the homeless, unemployed, and working poor, and over 350 meals to local community organizations like StreetCode Academy.Originally, we delivered the meals out of a very small PT Cruiser. We are now in a Ford Edge. Unfortunately, our new vehicle isn’t large enough for our expanding business and doesn’t provide the services needed to keep food hot or cold or provide hand washing and other hygienic amenities. We are growing!We are ready to take our business to the next level, and we are planning to purchase a food truck. The truck will be used to pick up donations and deliver free hot delicious meals to the hungry. We have a goal of raising $75,000 for a state of the art mobile food truck.
