Working for Worcester is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded, designed, and implemented by college students in the city of Worcester. The project organizes a spring service day, in which student volunteers join resident groups, corporations, non-profits, civic leaders, religious organizations, and schools to renovate/build recreation spaces across our city, all in an effort to increase recreation for underserved populations and promote community wellness. Since inception in 2012, the project has conducted 9 annual Super Service Days, culminating in 8000+ volunteers and over $1,000,000 of investment at 100+ community sites: parks, schools, little league fields, youth centers, family homeless shelters, and community gardens. Each year two Executive Directors manage a team of ~25 executive team members, as well as ~100 site managers. Year 10 is well underway and set for April 2022.

As one of two student research assistants, I gathered and analyzed both quantitative and qualitative data to explore the relationship between religious organizations and poverty alleviation in the United States.
