Working at NetX was a stand out experience. During my tenure the agency grew from twenty six to sixty employees, we won numerous awards and I then had the experience of joining a global ad network when BBDO bought a stake in the agency.The focus of my work was driving the strategic thinking of NetX, growing our client relationships, and business, by constantly challenging ourselves to do better work. As a full service digital agency, and at the time the largest buyer of digital media in Australia, I also gained a thorough understanding of the Australian digital publisher landscape.Some of the highlights of the NetX days include the Westpac brand relaunch in October 2007, as well as launching 3 mobile, Virgin Money and Weight Watchers Online into the Australian market. The quality of the work is reflected in the awards that were won by NetX during my time with the agency; AWARD silver & bronze pencils, D&AD yellow pencils, Cannes Cyber Lions finalists, IAB winners as well being a finalist for B&T and Ad News interactive agency of the year in 2007.

Net Return was the re-branded entity that resulted from a merger of a number of Australia's early digital agencies (Ion Global, XT3, Gadfly Media). With a focus on direct communications, in the digital space, my job was to tell people what we were up to.

Sport has always been a big part of my life. When I retired from rowing I shifted the focus to sailing - all the competitiveness of rowing but you get to face the direction you are going.I'd always wanted to try my hand on the professional sailing scene. So I did. Over 5 months I raced in Thailand, Malaysia and Australia. I got to race with some outstanding sailors, including 5 members of Team GBR (British America's Cup team), and learnt what professional sailing is all about. And we got some decent results, racing in the Kings Cup, Rolex Trophy, Malaysian Regatta, Sydney-Hobart and Australian nationals.Another awesome experience, but by March 2003 it was time to get back to real work. Joining Digiterre as the first employee in January 2000 we grew the business to 30 people before I got on the boat and headed to Australia in August 2002.The 'new media' world was at full speed in January 2000. It was in reverse by March 2000 with the Dot Com Crash reshaping the landscape. I quickly learnt the harsh realities of building a business in a downturn. That said, it was an amazing experience with a lot of learnings.Digiterre was one of the new breed of digital agencies, it was the quality of the work that carried us through a tough market. We wrote global digital brand strategies and we built complex back end systems. Our efforts were recognised in 2002 when we were listed as one of New Media Age's Top Ten Digital Agencies.

As a member of the Accenture Graduate Recruitment Program I had the benefit of intensive training in strategic consulting, IT systems development through to business finance. After stints in London and Chicago I was assigned to the UK practice's largest client, the British Government. A full on, deep-end entry to the world of management consultancy. An invaluable experience.
