Experimented with actomyosin gel, utilizing epifluorescence microscopy and a custom, calibrated flexure hinge inside a hand-built chamber to measure the force at which this gel contracts. Fine motor skills were enhanced, and a measurement never taken before was achieved. Had bi-weekly status meetings and seminars, along with a final presentation, posterboard session, and final paper.

Focused on developing a highly adhesive material with enhanced electron and proton conductivity that can be electrically deactivated. Worked in a small group that met weekly to develop a formula utilizing a copolymer and carbon nanotube combination, Worked in the lab to create different polymer-to-carbon nanotube ratios and tested samples using the tensile test on a UTM device. Participated in a McNair Scholar presentation, a final presentation review, along with a posterboard and final paper.

Worked on creating a health dashboard to coincide with a REDCap client survey and created educational Sway magazine pages for cancer patients. The goal was to enhance at home care and monitoring of patients’ symptoms who are taking oral anticancer agents. Participated in elevator speech and posterboard competition and weekly review sessions with team and other interns.
