As a recent graduate from UC Santa Cruz in Marine Biology and Environmental Studies, I am passionate about conservation of fragile and unique marine ecosystems in the rapidly changing climate. I believe that applied research and education are keys to the future of a healthy, biodiverse ocean, and that it is essential to instill in everyone love and respect for the natural world. With this in mind, I will be spending the 2018-2019 academic year teaching elementary through high school students about marine biology and hopefully inspiring some budding marine scientists. Subsequently, I intend to pursue a masters degree in the marine conservation field, with a tentative focus on mangrove forest ecosystems.
