I am a highly experienced cultural programmer and creative community builder, with a literature specialism but a broad knowledge of the arts sector. Contributing at increasingly senior levels to the development and implementation of organisations’ artistic programmes and understanding how they intersect with business and financial strategies has given me a tested all-round knowledge of how plans, money and people combine to support successful cultural processes and outputs. I’m creative, flexible, cheerful, calm and pragmatic, and find particular satisfaction in delivering projects which bring about cultural or social change. My arts admin skillset is transferrable to charity, educational, statutory, organisational and other settings.

DirectorJaybird Live Literature Jan 2007 - PresentLondon, United KingdomJaybird Live Literature, which I founded in 2006, is the entity though which I create and manage many of my freelance projects. Through JLL, I managed multiple tours of African, Asian and Latin American poets to diasporic audiences for the Poetry Translation Centre, additional tours for Banipal Magazine of Modern Arabic Literature and the British Council, and various poetry and art installation projects. I worked as a scout and producer from 2016 to 2019 for the National Writers’ Centre and partners on The Inn Crowd, a project touring live literature and theatre shows to rural pub venues in the eastern region. The work JLL is most known for is the touring live literature show. Through JLL, I have devised and produced eight Arts Council funded poetry shows with award-winning and emerging poets touring to arts centres and theatres round the UK, including the first adaptations of Daljit Nagra’s Ramayana and Clare Pollard’s Ovid’s Heroines. JLL is active or dormant depending on what other work I'm doing at the time.
