I study the history of commodity markets, with a focus on the growth of commodity derivatives trading since the 1970s. My thesis assesses the regulatory and political challenges that have accompanied this growth through two historical developments: 1) The rise and fall of large banks as physical commodity traders, and 2) the growth of retail and institutional investor interest in commodities as an asset class.

Conducted research on topics related genetics and health equity, resulting in 6 co-authored academic articles (3/6 as first author).
