About Julia Carter

Julia Carter grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania, graduating from Penn State and earning a Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. During medical school, Julia founded the Women of Excellence, served in roles on Student Council, the Organization of Student Representatives branch of the AAMC, and numerous other organizations. She is a Chancellor Scholar, a Gold Humanism Honor Society member, and a recipient of the Lonnie Wright Memorial Award for her compassion for peers and concern for the community. Julia has demonstrated commitments to education, mentorship, and service, and she looks forward to a career devoted to diversifying medicine. Julia is completing her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania with an interest in medical education and cardiology. Upon graduation from residency, she will be serving as a Chief Resident and faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania.

As the chief executive officer, I am tasked with fundraising for the organization and establishing community partnerships to support events such as back-to-school supply drives, education workshops, and scholarships. In 2019, an annual scholarship program was established, in which deserving students apply through a competitive application process and are awarded financial aid to assist in their educational pursuits. My nonprofit organization has been an amazing vessel through which I can channel my passion for education and scholarship, mentorship, and community service into the local underserved community where I work and live.
