I have a good social balance of friends from various backgrounds and cultures.Since May 2012 – 2019Peterborough, United KingdomI have been an elected councillor , In this role i have learnt and gained experience working directly with the residents, handling phone calls and letters asking for help and advice. Also accessing the internet which I had very little knowledge about I'm still skeptical to the whole idea. When receiving complaints about local public services, I refer them to the right department, so they can be resolved. I do frequent ward walks within my ward and hold regular surgeries. At the Local Methodist Church and the Local Community Centre to which I represent. Meeting and liaising with the community is a humbling experience and reminds me how fragile and vulnerable we all can be.In this role I have seen my own development of people skills grow from strength to strength and feel I have been given a great opportunity to help and support people. I am also part of the team that produces, designs, Newsletters every 5-6weeks covering local issues and from the Peterborough City councils on what will impact a community the distributions of the newsletter to nearly three thousand homes and increasing in numbers . I have had the good fortune to be a part of a Focus Team who are like minded individuals and we have our ward interests at heart. In my 5 plus years I have liaised with other public services, such as the police, fire authority and health services on behalf of ward residents and for the benefit of electorates I serve, I also serve on several other community groups, was a Trustee of the Paston and Gunthorpe Community Association and within the Peterborough City Council Licensing, & Employment Committee Founder of Peterborough Windrush Generation and Descendants UK Ambassador of the Black Poppy Rose Affiliated to WNO - (Windrush National Organisation).
