I am a Teaching Professor of English in the Writing Program at Northeastern University, and I specialize in teaching community-engaged or service-learning courses. At the moment I am using this profile primarily to work with my students on their own LinkedIn profiles for a class assignment. So I'm trying to set a good example! I would also be very happy to connect with previous students, colleagues, and community members. One important way I am building my network is working with non-profit organizations in the Boston area that are dedicated to supporting immigrant and refugee communities, and/or efforts to mitigate food insecurity. I usually teach at least one course every semester on "Food Justice" and was delighted to see that Mayor Wu has established an official Office of Food Justice. My students have volunteered and completed project work with about 8 organizations in nearby neighborhoods and have benefited deeply from the knowledge our community members have shared with us.
