I was the Innovation and Engagement Lead at Smart Docklands, an initiative of Dublin City Council and Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre ‘CONNECT’ and 'Enable' based in Trinity College Dublin.Dublin’s Smart Docklands is a unique smart city testbed, where the municipality and academia have funded a Project Management Office (PMO) to play an ‘honest broker’ role amongst all stakeholders in a Smart City.http://smartdocklands.ie/

I am responsible for exploring opportunities to evolve Wellington’s Smart City capabilities, product managing solutions, facilitating digital data engagement between Council, external organisations and the community, and providing expert leadership and guidance on developing and delivering innovative solutions. I provide regular briefing to key stakeholders including our executive leadership team, elected officials and external partner agencies. Key achievement: I led a team of developers to produce a solution which enabled six government agencies to share, visualise and gain insights from data relating to alcohol related harm within Wellington City. For the first time agency partners were able to have a holistic view of alcohol harm, understand trends over five years and explore these against potential influencing factors.

My role was to develop and deliver a strategic and integrated approach that supports outcomes for community safety and social wellbeing. I was tasked with establishing and supporting collaboration with central government, businesses and the wider social sector to enable improved outcomes. I provided regular briefings to staff and elected members regarding emerging issues to support successful early intervention and positive results. Additionally, assist with planning and response to civil defence emergencies both locally and nationally to ensure the welfare of people and animals.Key achievement: I developed a framework for creating local safety plans built through a co-designed participatory process with communities to encourage ownership and build capacity. Its application was successful in enabling the Council’s Community Services team to take an integrated view of safety and wellbeing and partner with the key agencies, businesses and the community to identify and address key safety issues, improve perceptions of safety and subsequent wellbeing.

Assist in identifying emerging issues impacting on community and city safety. Collaborate with all stakeholders including community leaders, the Police, community groups, NGOs and service providers to develop innovative community driven solutions. Manage the Community Safety CCTV Camera Network and develop a framework for network expansion to align with community safety and development principles. Key Achievement: I led a broad range of safety focused community space improvement projects. Most notable was Kake Tonu Walkway which had experienced a series of sexual assaults and other safety related issues. My role included undertaking a site assessment, briefing the Mayor and Directors to request and secure funding, establishing a multilateral partnership with the local residents, artists, school, university and Police to co-design redevelopment options, managing the redevelopment and implementing a monitoring programme post completion.
