JULIA HEADLEY, the youngest of four girls in an artistic family, was born and raised on the island of Barbados, where she began her dance training at Louise Woodvine Dance Academy. She graduated from The Juilliard School in 2013 with a B.F.A in Dance (with scholastic distinction).Currently dancing with the National Theater Mannheim, Julia has had the opportunity to perform works by George Balanchine, Nacho Duato, Jose Limon, Darrell Moultrie, Paul Taylor, Kevin O'day, Robert Glumbek, Dominique Dumais, Yuki Mori, Marco Goecke, Giuseppe Spota, Stephan Thoss and many others. She has discovered a passion for choreography; having created numerous works during her time at Juilliard and seeks to continue creating works in her future. A firm believer in the ‘Artist as Citizen’, Julia has participated in a number of outreach and community service projects and believes it is the responsibility of an artist to give back to the community he/she lives in, through performance, educational outreach and community service. Art, she believes, has the power to heal, to encourage and to inspire. With her passion for the arts bubbling up inside her, she is excited for the future that awaits her.
