I work with Dr. Anna Kahkoska on the DELI (Diabetes Eating Longevity Investigation) Snapshot Study. This study will collect a novel, granular, and comprehensive dietary dataset to objectively characterize patterns of nutrient intake, physical activity, sleep/wake habits, and diabetes management among older adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D). To this end, I engage in participant-facing interactions including recruitment, consenting, and retention efforts throughout participant tasks for a week-long, clinical nutrition study. I am currently writing my Senior Honors Thesis that focuses on physical activity patterns in older adults with T1D.

Button Lab is in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics and is a part of the Marsico Lung Institute. The primary focus of Dr. Button's lab is to understand the biophysics of the polymer mucus layer, its interaction with the underlying mucus layer, and why lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis result in a failure of mucus clearance. To this end, I feed cell cultures with varying media, engage in cilia analysis, treat tissue culture supports and growth flasks, and assist the researchers in scientific experiments.

The current goal of Stein Lab is to eventually count all of the nuclei in a mouse brain and draw correlations between neuron density in human brains with and without Autism Spectrum Disorder. To this end, I trained the image recognition algorithm that identifies mice nuclei in order to quantify differences in brain structure caused by mutations associated with neuropsychiatric disorders.

Gained leadership skills and learned more about the government process; partnered with a nonprofit organization, Hope & Comfort, to make fifty cards for Hope Kits. These kits contain personal hygiene items for kids and other youth who may not have access, especially during the pandemic.
