I worked with Dr. Adam Hering briefly as a volunteer to collect samples from the blue listed species California Big horn sheep on the Penticton Indian band reservation during the winter of 2017. Duties included herding sheep, blind-folding them, collecting blood, stool and ear crust samples. During the winter holidays, my primary duty was to feed, water, and count the sheep on a daily basis. The goal of the study was to follow and document the effect of mange infection on the sheep and their livelihood, and development a method of antibiotic treatment to use in the wild on affected herds.
