I worked as a retail manager for 15 years whilst at the same time completed a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Families and a Diploma in Community Services. At the end of 2008 when I had completed my study I applied for a casual residential care position at Berry Street from here I progressed to a permanent position and then to a House Supervisor by 2009 . At the end of 2010 I filled in the Team Leader position and was then successful in interviewing for the position in early 2011. I have trained others to the role and learnt new procedures etc. on the way. In 2014 I became an accredited trainer in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and in 2015 I completed my Diploma of Management through AIM. In 2019 I completed my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment through Chisholm TAFE and in February 2023 completed a Bachelor of Human Services through Charles Sturt University. I enjoy the people support component of my job and also advocating for staff's own professional development. My goal is to become a trainer in my field and empower staff to gain the right skills for working in the complex Out Of Home Care sector. I am currently working as a Practice -Based Learning Consultant in Berry Street's Learning and Development program, training in Residential Care Orientation, Certificate 1V in Child , Youth and Family Intervention, Diploma of Community Services and Therapeutic Crisis Management.
