Contracted by federal and local government agencies to provide communications assistance for public facing programs. Main projects include:Producing videos for a variety of the EPA's Environmental Justice and technical programs. This includes pre-production research, developing interview questions, traveling to communities to conduct video interviews, and filming B-roll. Post-production involves storyboard development and written narration overlays.Answering public calls and emails for multiple U.S. EPA Helplines including the WaterSense Helpline, the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act Helpline, and previously the Pollution Prevention and WasteWise Helplines.Deputy task order manager for the implementation task order of the WaterSense contract. This includes managing the annual reporting process for hundreds of WaterSense partners, developing content for public outreach materials (newsletters, mass emails, etc.), and completing monthly technical reports.Providing Zoom Gov and Microsoft Teams technical assistance for online webinars for multiple federal and local government contracts. This also includes traveling to client meetings to coordinate technological support and take notes for hybrid webinars. Narrating online learning modules for federal and local government agencies. This includes editing hours of audio using Audacity software.Contributed to the EPA’s congressional reports for plastic waste minimization and implementation of the National Recycling Strategy focused on the circular economy.

Promoted to WRC Manager after one year; managed community education and outreach programs at WRC including monthly beach cleanups, panels, presentations, and partner meetings. A main part of the role involved coordinating the County’s virtual Coastal Cleanup Month by managing social media accounts, partnering with city governments and organizations, filming educational videos, and recruiting over 700 volunteers resulting in over 3,000 pounds of trash collected. In addition, as WRC Manager, I wrote and received a $4,000 grant from the UCSB Associated Students Coastal Fund to hire and supervise one student intern for three months.

Coordinated Santa Barbara County's Coastal Cleanup Day on Sep. 26th, California's largest volunteer led effort. Due to COVID-19, Coastal Cleanup Day transformed into Coastal Cleanup Month where volunteers were encouraged to clean up their neighborhoods on their own during the entire month of September. The new format of the event changed the role to include more social media and community outreach in order to relay the changes to volunteers. Coordination involved planning social media posts, creating engaging videos, answering questions from the community, setting up platforms for reporting cleanup data, and analyzing that data throughout the month. Over 700 volunteers picked up over 3,000 pounds of trash.

My specific accomplishments included teaching and preparing curriculum for lessons and field trips to 30,000 K-6th grade students annually across Santa Barbara County, supporting the Education Manager in programming through scheduling lessons, maintaining grants andcontracts including a large B-WET NOAA grant project called Flows to the Ocean, creating data summary tables, final reports, and tracking databases, and writing blog posts and social media content for website, Facebook, and Instagram.Explore Ecology is an education and arts non-profit organization in Santa Barbara, CA. There are three main programs: Environmental Education, School Gardens, and the Art From Scrap Creative ReUse Store. Each program is focused on empowering people to protect and preserve the environment. The Environmental Education program consists of 3-4 educators who teach in-class lessons and field trips across Santa Barbara County for mostly grades K-5 . Each lesson is focused on some aspect of either waste or water. The educator's role is to teach these lessons while also adapt them for geographical differences between areas, grade levels, and natural, local phenomenon. In-class lessons include hands-on presentations with exciting activities based on different methods of learning. Field trips are to the Watershed Resource Center at Hendry's Beach next to Arroyo Burro creek. Depending on the lesson, students get to test and analyze water quality, participate in a beach clean up, and have fun with a watershed model. Topics covered in each lesson include:Waste: -Composting -Waste reduction (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)-Food waste -Creative reuseWater:-Watersheds-Pollution types-Marine debris-Water availabilityEnvironmental Educators also contribute to lesson plan changes, outreach event planning, social media, and administrative duties.
