Graduate teaching assistant for courses PUBLHLTH 783/784 (Quantitative Approaches to Public Health I and II)

For my masters of public health program, I held a placement at the Wisconsin Office of Rural Health (WORH) for my applied practice experience. My project was working with another MPH candidate to update the WORH "Obstetric Delivery Services and Workforce in Rural Wisconsin Hospitals" report (last revised in 2019). Our goals for the project were provide a 5-year update on the availability of hospital-based obstetric services in rural Wisconsin, and further analyze workforce trends and factors that lead to unit closures. We also wanted to identify opportunities for intervention and to highlight current success models and ideas that can lead to more equitable health outcomes for women and infants living in rural Wisconsin. Other tasks/skills learned included:-Completed full literature review and media scan-Utilized ArcGIS Pro for data visualization-Analyzed large public datasets using Excel-Partnered with another student worker on survey design, data collection, and data analysis-Identified, reached out to, and interviewed key stakeholders-Investigated Maternal Care Target Areas (MCTA) and created a map of MCTA scores in Wisconsin. -Co-authored written findings, relevant research, and recommendations (evidence-based and from stakeholders) to Wisconsin policymakers and rural hospitals

Graduate teaching assistant in the department of Plant Pathology (Fall 2022 semester) and Integrative Biology (Spring 2023 semester)-Mentored undergraduate students with written and verbal feedback, evaluated student growth -Fostered relationships with and between students -Integrated lecture content with lab activities-Resolved student affairs with equity and practicality-Utilized exceptional time-management by completing tasks prior to deadlines
