Julia is an edupreneur and the director of ‘Zealous English’ – a blog and YouTube channel about middle-years EAL. She holds a BA (Languages) with Honours, a Grad Dip of Education (Sec), a Masters of Public and International Law, and a Grad Cert of Literary Classics. In 2022, Julia was appointed as the Senior Years Coordinator and Wellbeing Program Developer at Lauriston Girls' School where she was responsible for the pastoral care of students in years 11 and 12 as well as the implementation of the senior school student wellbeing program. In 2024, Julia will continue to collaborate on a full school review and strategic plan implementation of the school's wellbeing program from K-12. Julia is a lover of literature and is passionate about languages, linguistics and bilingual education. She is well equiped to teach across a broad range of subjects including English, EAL, LOTE German, and Legal Studies. Her extensive training and experience enables her to teach across the full breadth and depth of senior English subjects including VCE English, EAL, Literature, and English Language in addition to English B in the International Baccalaureate's Diploma Program.Julia was formerly the EAL Coordinator (Years 7-12) at Lauriston, where she had an integral role in establishing the EAL program. She continues to support mainstream teachers who teach EAL students and is experienced in delivering staff professional learning workshops though teaching associations including VicTESOL, VATE, BooBook Education, TasTESOL and the Teacher Learning Network. Furthermore, she is a VCAA GAT and VCE EAL examiner. Julia has taught in the New Arrivals, German immersion and Independent School settings, and in Korea. She was also a Leading Teacher and International Student Coordinator at Blackburn English Language School as well as member of the school's executive in the role of Head of School. Julia is a former member of the Executive Board of the Australian Council of TESOL Associations (ACTA), a former VicTESOL Committee Member and former VATE Professional Learning and Research Committee Member, was actively involved in the VCAA F-10 EAL Curriculum for Victorian Schools Consultation Review, and was a member of the VCAA VCE Examination Development EAL Reviewing Panel.
