Julia Mullaney has 30 years of experience in software development, software quality, and cybersecurity. AT IBM, she was instrumental in process improvement efforts having a major role in defining and implementing defect prevention for which she won the IBM Quality Award. At the Software Engineering Institute (SEI,) Mullaney was a key contributor to the Personal Software Process and Team Software Process through the development of training, certification, licensing, and applied research at leading software organizations. She received many awards for her work there including customer satisfaction, dedication, achievement, “amplify” and customer service. She currently chairs the IEEE/SEI Watts Humphrey Software Process Achievement award and is the leader of the Software Excellence Alliance. Her cybersecurity work at the SEI includes participation on the Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model V2, Team Lead of the Expert Guidance and Strategic Support to DHS and managed the development and release of the Smart Grid Maturity Model. Julia is an active volunteer in her community. She was a member of the Leadership Knoxville Class of 2014 and is the on board of Interfaith Health Clinic, Knoxville Opera, and is President of the Knoxville Opera Guild. Mullaney earned her BS in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University.
