Merging two of Cape Town’s well known and respected individuals within the Cape Town events scene, Julia Savage (Cape Town Cycle Tour and AfrikaBurn) and Luke Armstrong (Rocking the Daisies and Seed Experiences), brings collective experience, vast knowledge and dedication to the extensive landscape of event production and logistics.Savage & Strong pride themselves in meticulous planning of event logistics, innovative and imaginative thinking and are dedicated to a fine and fun event execution experience.

I managed the Ticket sales and access control for the annual AfrikaBurn event. This aspect very much links into emergency information data collection which is used in the event Joint Operations Centre, in case of an emergency. Once onsite I managed access control focusing on ensuring that my team link the person checking in to the event, to their emergency information in the data base, by means of a wristband with a unique code on it.AfrikaBurn is a volunteer driven organisation, and I have managed this portfolio with volunteers since 2012.

Managed AfrikaBurn's operations with a focus on restructuring the human scaffolding that held the organisation up. I introduced salary bands that were in line with the NGO sector, and took all existing job descriptions, and through a consultative processes, fine tuned all job descriptions to provide clarity to the team on their role. This I did in conjunction with managing the operations of the organisation and the lead up to the annual AfrikaBurn event in the Tankwa Karoo.

I formed part of the Logistics team that managed all race logistics for the Cape Town Cycle Tour (formally known as the Cape Argus Cycle Tour) - the largest timed cycle race in the world with 40 000 cyclists making their way around the Cape Peninsula for 109kms. Other events included the Stellenbosch Cycle Tour and the Coronation Double Century. My role focussed mostly on route logistics, refreshment stations, sweep operations, traffic management planning and permitting.

Coordinated conference logistics for conferences in Europe, Asia, North and South America. In the busy periods I'd work and manage 3 conferences in 1 month.
