I have been a teacher and school leader in international education for most of my professional life. Most of those years were spent working with the IB/PYP, a curriculum framework that highlights inquiry, conceptual learning and student agency and independence. I have loved leading schools in fostering these essential components in teaching and learning, developing best practices across the school. I have now added a diploma as a Therapeutic Well-being Practitioner and am combining teaching and learning with whole-school well-being development and social/emotional capacity building in young children. Learning and well-being are inextricably linked, and their development goes hand-in-hand in schools. Recently, I have added courses in Positive Education in my well-being repertoire as adding components of Positive Psychology with the more traditional field of psychology is a more comprehensive and holistic approach to well-being in schools. I have been using my passion for teaching and learning, guiding schools and promoting well-being capacities for five years with my service work in Asia. My work in developing life skills training for rural girls in Laos through the Lotus Education (NGO) and the on-going curriculum work and teacher training for Green Umbrella, a beautiful rural primary school in Cambodia have been extraordinary life rewarding work for me. Using my professional skills in education, coupled with a passion and desire to help build our world through education has been at the heart of my goals.Service has been a key component of both my professional and personal life experiences. Responsibility to our world and to all who share it is essential to my philosophy. My work and passion for children’s well-being is not just reserved for my working life and I am an advocate of reflective parenting to support parents in bringing up children who are able to grow and shine.Teaching, school leadership, school trustee experience and authorization and accreditation of schools have given me a very broad and far-reaching ability to deeply understand schools from both humanistic and systemic perspectives. Please feel free to connect via LinkedIn.
