It is officially official! Julia Buckingham Interiors has relocated from Chicago, where it was founded in 2007 to Tucson, Arizona! After traveling back and forth all over the country for many years and designing some pretty jaw-dropping interior spaces, it has become crystal clear that this state (our state) has succumbed to somewhat blah + neutral designing for way too long. I believe that we who reside in Arizona and the West crave and emulate more layered textures, more sophisticated color pairings (color is key), BOLD lighting, the specialized curation of more unique furnishings, and ART from local artisans and from our talented consortium of regal cultures. In other words, it is time to have FUN inside of your living rooms- no more of "just the same as everyone else." We also have a new name to celebrate our new location and our renewed commitment to make the desert feel more WOW. A magical marriage of creative people, my new husband, internationally acclaimed photojournalist, author and world-explorer, Brian Vikander, and I are also collaborating on some inspiring artistic pursuits together, as well as my "business as not usually the usual." It truly is wonderful to be back in Tucson, where I graduated from the University of Arizona- albeit a few moons ago: )Cheers to new and old friends in the West!
