CONTINUOUS LEARNING. In public education, I pursued and achieved numerous education certifications at both elementary and secondary levels, and have served every grade, Pre-K through 12th, as a classroom teacher, instructional specialist, and school librarian. As a librarian, I taught technology skills and resolved technology issues for staff and students, most learned through self-study.INTERPERSONAL SKILLS. I’ve lived and worked in rural, small town, suburban, and urban areas across several states in a wide range of economic strata and cultures. I have taught and volunteered with new learners of English from around the world, and enjoy meeting new friends through my local chapter of InterNations. Each community and experience has deepened my understanding for others, and I readily connect with people in all walks of life.SALES EXPERIENCE. As an educational consultant for publishers, I worked closely with account managers in developing curriculum correlations and strategic sales plans for target school districts, delivering sales presentations to both intimate and large audiences. I developed relationships with stakeholders, conducted teacher in-services with our products, and presented at numerous state conferences.PROBLEM-SOLVING. Example: When my sons returned from study abroad programs in China and Japan, our school district denied them high school credits for their foreign school attendance. This setback would have delayed their high school graduation a year. Leveraging my professional knowledge, I researched homeschool laws in Texas and administered their junior and senior years of high school, creating coursework aligned with state standards and utilizing Austin Community College for dual credits. Consequently, both sons completed distinguished high school diploma requirements while simultaneously attaining Associate's degrees, and received offers from top-tier universities.
