About Julia Byrd

My passion lies in helping startups and program managers supporting startups learn about market needs to make better decisions around the trajectory of their efforts. I have been working with the Lean LaunchPad/I-Corps methodology since 2013 and have taught many classes on customer discovery, including lessons on how to get interviews with customers, what questions to ask, and how to distill all of the information gathered into a business plan, assuming a viable one emerges.I also enjoy serving in a "train the trainer" capacity. I have run and helped start numerous accelerator, mentoring, and other startup support programs, so I am familiar with the many potential missteps that new program directors can make as I have likely made them myself at some point. I use my proficiency in curriculum design and instruction to guide new program managers as they set up and execute on their initial cohorts. There are often many logistics that need developing and fires to be put out during the inaugural program, so I can provide an extra set of steady hands to help make decisions about tools to use, program structure (lesson topics and timing), session content, logistics planning, budgeting, and more.
